Day 5 is normally the final day of Elimination Bracket competition, however, this turned into upset Saturday with several lower seeded teams rising to the occasion of qualifying to play our 2009 FBC Championship game under the dome of Tropicana Stadium, making tomorrow morning a win-or-go-home final game a necessity . . .
In the 16u division the top-seeded Puerto Rico Astros cruised to a 10-2 win over the undefeated & 2nd seeded Johnny Mac Thunder team of Missouri . . . In morning action the BigStix Gamers, GA, stayed true to their name throughout the entire day by slugging-out a 6-5 victory over the Jacksonville Blue Heat, then overcoming the mighty Titans Baseball Club, FL, 7-5 . . . This sets up the BigStix Gamers to battle against the now once-defeated Johnny Mac at 9:00am on Sunday morning to earn the final berth against the Puerto Rico Astros in the 2009 16u FBC Championship game . . . Hopefully both teams will be resting well tonight for what they each hope will be, but which only one will attain, a 2-game Sunday schedule . . . a play-off berth victory to place them into the 2009 16u FBC Championship game . . .
In Silver Division action the 16u Texas Heat went undefeated in Silver Bracket action to claim the 2009 FBC Silver Championship Title . . . On behalf of myself, Herb Forkenbrock & of course, Scott Fletcher, the Founder of the Fletcher Baseball program and also 15-year professional MLB player & current Infield Coordinator for the Colorado Rockies, our thanks and congratulations go out to all of our 2009 16u FBC participating teams . . . each team, player, coach, parent & fan represented their state and country well and we're proud to have each of you participating in our event . . . we hope your memories are fond ones and that you'll chose to continue your association in the sport of Baseball as a player and beyond . . .
