DAY 5
NEWS FLASH: 18U UPDATE DATELINE: SATURDAY 9 PM
Day 5 is normally the final day of Elimination Bracket competition, however, this turned into upset Saturday with several lower seeded teams rising to the occasion in their quest to play in our 2009 18u FBC Championship game under the dome of Tropicana Stadium, making tomorrow morning a win-or-go-home final game a necessity . . .
In the 18u A Bracket division the top-seeded Seminole Baseball Club suffered their 1st loss of the tournament in a shockingly bat-silent manner to an inspired Ohio Glaciers Club that many believed unable to match up in any way with the mighty Seminoles . . . however, in a defensive pitching duel it was the Glaciers icing the hot Seminole bats 1-0, forcing the "if" deciding game for the right to play in the 2009 18u FBC Championship game under the dome of Tropicana Stadium . . . that game will have the opening pitch thrown on Sunday morning at 9:00am . . . by virtue of their win today over the Seminoles, the Glaciers have guaranteed themselves of a 3rd Place or higher finish in this years Championship event . . . great job!!!
The 18u B Bracket competitions concluded a bit more "normally" with the 2nd seeded 18u South Florida Snappers taking down the Delray Beach Mudhens by a 6-2 margin to earn their 18u FBC Championship game berth . . . now they idly await the results of tomorrow morning's 9:00am game between the Seminoles & Glaciers to find out which opponent they'll be facing-off against under the Tropicana dome . . . In Silver Division action the 18u Strike One Sidewinders, GA, avenged their winless Pool Play results by going undefeated in Silver Bracket action to claim the 2009 FBC Silver Championship Title over the 2nd Place West Florida Hurricanes . . .
